seminar II. CALL & language skills

Well, hello. Today's post will be devoted to various online resources which may be used for accelerating one's language skills. It was suggested that I checked out a bunch of websites and expressed my thoughts on them(spoiler: of course not all of them were that great). With some it turned out to be troublesome to get access to.
Also there were links to downloading programs which didin't appeal to me for 2 reasons: I don't download things from unsafe services and nobody uses skill improving computer programs anymore - it doesn't matter if those are good or not, everything is online now which is just naturally another stage of evolution, I mean it takes so much timeto intsall a program

and life is so fast today with everything reminding you that it is also very short and death is literally round the corner so you shouldn't waste your time on such things....you know. So I will only mention those sources I liked the most. Without further ado, let's get started.

 1. listening, speaking and pronunciation

Firstly I'd like to mention English Pronunciation Lab. For some reason I wasn't able to register and get the 8-part Pronunciation Audio Course BUT I did like the program's founder youtube channel(https://www.youtube.com/user/heatherhansen), where she is apparently no longer active, but the content she's created may be helpful for those who are learning english. Btw, I really enjoed the TedTalk she did(https://youtu.be/9dum2Z4B3js) and I would definitely recommend watching it. Speaking of Youtube, there is a section on manythings.org (http://www.manythings.org/voa/v/) with a wide collection of videos on general topics like health, economy, music etc. which could be useful for beginners.
And a little bit about Rosetta Stone. It is a computer-assisted language learning software which uses images, text, and sound to teach words and grammar by spaced repetition, without translation. In exercised there you will be asked to pair sound or text to one of several images. Also the software can attempt to evaluate word pronunciation. Honestly, I didn't spend much time with it, but I searched for some reviews and, for example, on some russian-speaking review websites people seemed to really like it.
 2. reading and writing
So, here I'd like to pay attention to Free English Lessons from the ESL Resource Center for this page contains loads of materials which people who are learning english would definitely find valuable for improvement of their skills. Various texts and stories followed by exercised, speed reading exercises, lots of links to some press and scientific texts - it's basically a nice webpage for someone who wants to improve their reading and writing skills. (I even ignored how hideous it looked)
Learning Resources on literacynet.org is a more advanced web-source(the intended audience is adults). It's designed to help adults improve basic skills like reading and spelling using real-life stories on topics of interest to adults.
3. grammar
The grammar-quizzes.com provides pretty much everything for broading one's grammar knowledge whatever their level is - from beginning ESL to advanced and native speakers.

http://www.esltower.com/grammarquizzes.html contains self-study and interactive grammar exercises for learners of English on a lot of grammar-points like Parts of speech, Articles, Direct/ Indirect speech, Tense Forms, Idioms etc.
 4. vocabulary
Heading towards the end of this post, the last of all the useful web-resources for language learning that I personally liked and would recommend if asked for help with english is this page ldoceonline.com/exercise/section-vocabulary. Here one can improve his/her vocabulary with a wide variety of exercises focusing on different aspects of word meaning and use. There one can find lots of sections with exercises and learn more synonyms and antonyms, collocations, idioms,
phrasal verbs, learn more about word formation, so basically enlarge one's vocabulary in many ways.

Thanks for your attention!
