seminar V. bookmarks

Bookmarking services allow users to add, annotate, edit, and share bookmarks of web documents. In a social bookmarking system, users save links to web pages that they want to remember and/or share. These bookmarks are usually public, and can be saved privately, shared only with specified people or groups, shared only inside certain networks, or another combination of public and private domains. The allowed people can usually view these bookmarks chronologically, by category or tags, or via a search engine.
As these services have matured and grown more popular, they have added extra features such as ratings and comments on bookmarks, the ability to import and export bookmarks from browsers, emailing of bookmarks, web annotation, and groups or other social network features.

Today I'll introduce you to the services I find the most useful.
1. POCKET

Pocket is an application and web service for managing a reading list of articles and videos from the Internet. The application allows the user to save an article or web page to remote servers for later reading. The article is then sent to the user's Pocket list (synced to all of their devices) for offline reading. Pocket removes clutter from articles, and allows the user to add tags to their articles and to adjust text settings for easier reading.

With this service you can save the latest news, magazine articles, stories, videos, recipes, web pages, how-to information – anything you discover online.

2. DIIGO

Diigo helps to save and tag your online resources for easy access anytime, anywhere, annotate web pages and PDFs directly as you browse online, organize your links, references and personal input to create a structured research base, share your research with friends, classmates, colleagues or associates.

For individual users, social bookmarking can be useful as a way to access a consolidated set of bookmarks from various computers, organize large numbers of bookmarks, and share bookmarks with contacts. Institutions including businesses, libraries, and universities have used social bookmarking as a way to increase information sharing among members.
